Good Friday

It was Good Friday here yesterday in Malaysia and in the states of Sabah and Sarawak, Good Friday is observed as a public holiday.

I've always wondered why today is known as Good Friday when it is suppose to be a sad day. Once again, Mr Wiki provided some possible explanations:
Good Friday is the day commemorating Jesus Christ's death on the cross, which is probably to be dated April 3, A.D. 33. In the liturgical calendar of the Western church, the Friday before Easter.
The exact origins of the name are uncertain; some argue it stems from the use of "Good" as an adjective applied to the day, which is an Old English synonym for "holy." Others argue it is a corruption of the word "God", in the same way that "Good Bye" comes from the phrase "God be with ye".

Christians believe the day is "good" because the message of Easter is of Christ's victory over sin, death, and the devil; as the Apostle Paul wrote "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." It is believed that, in Jesus' death on the cross, He took once and for all the sins of all mankind upon Himself, in our place. "This gift He extends to everyone who will believe in Him. Believing in the Good News of the Gospel (Jesus, son of God, who died and was raised again) is our hope."

Well, our Good Friday started with going to church for the 7.30am service. During the service we were reminded of the sacrifice that Christ has made for us.

After the service we went to have breakfast at Hilltop. There, we "bumped" into my Aunt Ursula Ginibun and her family. She couldn't recognise me at first because I've become (cough, cough) more voluptuous in all the wrong places except 1! LOL!
When we arrived home, my husband tried to catch some sleep but failed because of Mia who was too excited to keep quiet.

I managed to get her to poopy in her potty (Yay!!!), fed her and finally, when we couldn't tolerate her noise, took her out for shopping.

The main thing we wanted to do was to get her baby walker. It's time.

The first place we tried was Servay Putatan. We let her try out 3 different walkers. She was only happy with 1, the cheapest one at RM45.

This is the cheap model she was trying out. She just kept walking sideways, backwards, everywhere except forward! She loved playing with those little gadgets in front.
Here she is again turning to talk to me as if saying, "This is it mummy. This one!"

But this ride looked too flimsy for our liking so .... cancel dong!

After doing grocery shopping at Servay (by now Mia has fallen asleep), we proceeded to Kid's Avenue in KK Times Square. All the baby walkers there left her feet floating in the air.... They're too big for her! There was only 1 model which was OK for her height and she seemed to enjoy herself in it. It was the cheapest one in the store too (phew!) at RM119.90, a lot more expensive that the one at Servay, but at least this one looks more sturdier.

Our mission for the day was accomplished. We managed to do grocery shopping, and buy her teething soother thingy, big bibs and most importantly her baby walker.

Here is Mia having fun in her baby walker on our back porch. Ah yes. It's been a good Friday for us.
