Part 1: The very long holiday weekend

Day 1: Saturday 13th February 2010

All set for the long holiday weekend in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

The weekend started with a wedding. It was the first time we took Mia to a Kadazan wedding reception. We were bracing ourselves for the worse... What if she didn't like the noise, the heat, the crowd?

Nonetheless, we just took her along and prayed for the best.

So off we went to celebrate the wedding of my cousin Audrey Raphael Monuil to Trevor.

Mia's such a good girl. She didn't cry at all. Instead she was rather enjoying the scene. She didn't want to take a nap at all!

We also met my aunt Janet Mijin and her grand-daughters (cousin Jade's daughters)

Mee Sup Pipin Part 2

Here we go again!

We went to the Mee Sup Pipin stall (as vowed!) today (Friday 12th February) for lunch. We arrived at the house turned stall at around 1.15pm. There was still a crowd there at this time mostly being office workers and parents with children they've just picked up from school. There was also a politician having his lunch here today together with his "band of brothers" - Bernard Dompok youuuuuu!

This time we tried out:

Tauhu (at RM1 each) is really nice. They're generous with the gravy too.

Kon lau mien Pipin. Nice!

There are so many other things on their menu posted on their walls. Among them were:

• Q-Nyuk (at RM15 per bowl). We tried this last time and its super delicious. We didn't order this time because it was just Fred & I eating
• Bakas (wild boar)
• Hinava (raw fish)
• Sup Tulang
• Sup Ekor
• Pau
  

On a weekday, the food is served out on the front porch of the house and they start serving customers at 6.00am and finish by 3.00pm.

Will there be a Mee Sup Pipin Part 3? Oh yes, definitely. There are still so many other food we'd like to try out here and besides, parking is really easy.

These don't fit in the "zoo theme" but I just couldn't help myself. They're just so cute. Now the problem is, where am I going to stick them?!

Gong Xi Fa Cai 2010

This Chinese New Year is going to be the first of many for us.

Among others, it'll be the first time that Fred and I:

• won't be receiving Chinese New Year Ang Pows for ourselves
• will be giving out Chinese New Year Ang Pows
• gladly bring along our very own baby to Chinese New Year open houses :)

I have to admit that my Chinese New Year decorations in our house this year is VERY little and relaxed compared to previous years.

Let's start with the living room.

Because I've been spending a lot of time in Kaison these past few days, I managed to grab these flowers and a huge vase to put them all together. The lanterns... recycled from last year.

Chest of drawers.

I didn't have to do anything here. This plant was given as a gift by Dora Alberto Chinese New Year last year. It's been there ever since!

Couch

Again, last year's cushion covers. I only needed to take them out and replace our regular covers.

Moving on now to the dining room.

Recycled flowers and white stones from Chinese New Year last year. The crystal vase was a wedding gift.

Speakers

I know it hasn't got to do with anything Chinese New Year (who ever heard of the year of the sotong?!). This is Mia's toy. It's red. Chinese New Year is all about red. There go.

Just because Chinese New Year falls on Valentine's Day! My big red hearty cushion comes out too.

There they are. Our Chinese New Year deco for this year - the year of the tiger. So, how come there aren't any tigers on display? Well, that would be me. I was born in the year of the tiger. R-O-A-RRRRRR or is it M-E-O-W?!

Sleepless in KK

Couldn't sleep. Too excited. Too anxious.

At 2.30am, while my 2 darlings slept, I gave in to my addiction and got out of bed.

By 3.30am, Scrappy & Scruffy are ready to greet all who come in the nursery!

Japanese Amy and Little Amy

Our church friends (Mr & Mrs Peter Chong, the Mrs being Amy Ayumi Akama - you guessed it, she's Japanese) welcomed their 5th child 2 weeks ago. A daughter named Haruka Chong.

We visited and had lunch with them yesterday along with our other church members (right after Mia had her double vaccination done).

Here's the super mama (Amy), with Kevin holding our little Amy (Mia). Standing in the background, is super daddy (Peter).

And here's the newest member of our church - Haruka! Our Mia is exactly 2 months older than Haruka.

Of Cocktails and Needles

Mia had extra vaccination done yesterday - for Rotavirus and Pneumococcal disease prevention.


First our Dr prepares the "cocktail" for Rotavirus prevention. It's to be given to her orally.


Then, it's time for Mia to drink up!


The more painful one is the Pneumococcal disease prevention jab. She cried a bit longer than the time she had her injection 2 weeks ago. And to think, there's another 3 more of this jab to complete in the months to come (aside from her other compulsory injections).

In a sticky situation

Hi. My name is Angeline, and I'm a sticker addict.

Inspired by our dear friend Christine, I got creative and started to decorate the nursery with some stickers which I bought from Kaison.

At first, I got a couple of kittens with flowers and butterflies to make a weird corner look nicer.

Then, I got some dinosaurs for the wall outside the nursery's bathroom.

P.S. I was later informed by Christine that the blue stuff are supposed to be clouds. Alamak!!! I could take them off and stick them up higher.... but decided to stay put and leave them as they are. Somehow I like them as puddles of water!

And now, I'm getting restless wondering how to do the rest of the walls. I'm thinking of turning the nursery into a mini zoo. What do you think?

I bought this little teddy bear at the "Give Back" corner of JCI Intan's "Fleastastic Bazaar" sometime in November last year for RM5.Mia loves it when I put Teddy Eddy on top like this so she can see his face. I caught her on various occasions "talking" and laughing at Teddy Eddy.
