MyKid

My kid has a MyKid now!

Finally, Mia's MyKid has arrived.

We were supposed to collect her MyKid in January but it was delayed by 2 months due to some technical problems in KL (so they say). Apparently, all applications after November 15, 2009 were affected.

Any parent out there collecting theirs in KK, save the hassle of going to the NRD and finding out their MyKid isn't ready by calling: 088-488320 to check first.

For those who haven't seen a MyKid before, here's what it looks like.
This chip-based identity card is issued for children below 12 years.

MyKid contains three main applications inside the chip:

• NRD application (birth data)
• Health information
• Educational information

The most outstanding part is the colour - PINK! It doesn't matter if your kid is a girl or boy, the card issued would be PINK.

Its size and numbering is just like the MyKad for adults (I blurred out the last 4 digits). Below Mia's name is our address.

Unlike MyKad, the MyKid does not have a photo or fingerprint of the child.

The Birth Certificate number and State born are shown. If the parents of the child are Muslims, then it would be printed below the State.

Hopefully, with the issuance of the Mykid, we no longer have to carry along the child's birth certificate when traveling, going to the clinic/hospital, enrolling in schools etc.

I love to take pictures. Ever since Mia has come into the picture (a-hem, pun intended), I've been super snappy happy.

That hand, is NOT mine, neither is it Mia's. So, whose is it? I don't know. It's weird, and creepy at the same time.

We went to check out Kids Avenue at KK Times Square last Saturday. They were having a sale together with Mothercare.

While we didn't buy anything, we had a bit of fun with the Kiddy Sunnies:

Solid Food

Mia has been licking her lips every time she sees others eat food lately. She's also been playing with her tongue. She's super cute when she sucks her upper lips with her tongue! I have however grown worried because the pass few days, she didn't have much of an appetite for her milk.

So, I thought it may be time to introduce her to solid food. After all, she will be 4 months in 2 weeks time.


For a start, we got her Heinz Baby Food (Pear & Banana flavour) for 4 - 6 month old babies.

She's not too keen on the taste. It's sort of sweet and sour.

I can't help but laugh at her! Not much of a support am I?! I'm so horrid.

In the end, I think I only managed to feed her 1 teaspoon of the baby food - most of which ended up on her bib. Forget the Heinz baby food. I think I'll try good old plain porridge tomorrow - pureed of course.

Yes, we went out to look for a rash cream for Mia's cheeks. Most creams were not suited for her because we're so afraid that she'd rub the cream with her hand and then put her hand in her mouth.

We were recommended this ointment though which is sort of a wonder-ointment for cuts and wounds.

Facial Rash

She's back to wearing mittens now.

Because of this!

Here's a close-up of her left cheek.

Mia likes to play with her drool. She's put her fingers - all of them into her mouth then rub her fingers slathered with saliva all over her cheeks. I've been trying in vain to stop her from doing so, but she wouldn't stop it. She even makes loud slurping noises as she hungrily devour her fingers in her mouth before she rubs her cheeks. Its as if the louder the noise, the more she enjoys it.

Nah, kotoh! (serve you right), she now has rashes all over her cheeks.

We'd need to go to the baby shop to look for facial rash cream later today.

New, new, new

We bought this "baby sitter" from Bumbo for Mia recently. It comes with a little table for her to place her toys on.

She loves it.Wearing her new dress, sitting on her new armchair, she talks to her new friend Bibi the bee.

But Bibi bee won't talk back to her.

Mummy!!!! Bibi don't want to talk to me!

Pleaaaase Bibi bee, say something.....

Oh dear! How am I ever to explain to her that not everyone and everything can chit chat with her?!

A sign of times to come

Teddy Eddy had a head injury. His forehead split, smack in the middle.
Can you see the white cotton coming out? The fierce face in the background is the villain. She's been poking and chewing on Teddy Eddy's head for quite sometime now.

I stitched the forehead back and gave the teddy back to Mia. She gave it one look, then starts chewing its forehead again.

Aaargh... I can picture it all now: dolls with missing limbs, dolls with missing eyeballs and headless dolls coming my way soon.
